Soul. Funk. Energy. Spirit. In the tradition of great artists like Sly & the Family Stone and Earth Wind & Fire, ASCENDANT is a band headed by two artists, Kael Mboya Bradley and Michael Lockett, whose collective vision is to share their gifts and passion for music with the world.

ASCENDANT brings energy and deep meaningful grooves that move your body and raise your spirits. ASCENDANT has brought their soulful sounds to many venues including opening for Meshell Ndegeocello at the 2003 NeoSoul Explosion in Chicago , IL . They have gained fans and high ratings from music lovers due, in large part, to their dynamic musicianship. They have steadily utilized top notch musicians in their "backfield" (Phillip Seed on guitar and Kirk T. Marshall on drums).

In 2003, ASCENDANT debuted their self released CD, Where You Are Now, which is still available online at AscendantMusic.com, cdbaby.com, dustygroove.com, Itunes and select stores. Beginning with the funky hard driving first track, Power, and ending with the sublimely inspiring closer, We Are..., the album blends expressions of funk, rock and jazz all with a foundation of soul. This, combined with beautiful harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and top notch musicianship give ASCENDANT a style all their own. Music from this CD has been featured on various television programs including the ABC network programs NBA Inside Stuff and NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad.

ASCENDANT was started in 2000 by Kael as a vehicle for his musical expression. He has performed and recorded for several artists, including David Josias' 1995 single "Mindblowin" (IMI Records). Michael Lockett, who sang with vocal group, Truce ("Pump It", Strictly Rhythm Records), added a desirable element to ASCENDANT with his talents of harmony and vocal styling.
