And if we know one thing about American Idol, it’s just as likely that the non-winners will often have more post Idol success than the singer who claimed the top prize. And after hearing this Mississippian crush her new song “Good Woman” from her upcoming debut project slated to be released later this month, it’s clear that Renae has the chops to replicate the kind of music success that Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson.
The cut sports an arrangement that channels James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s World” and lyrics that might remind some of Aretha Franklin’s “Do Right Woman” with a little more get right or else edge. The vocals? Well, let me say that after hearing Renae belt on this piece of nu/old school soul, Trent Harmon must be real good singer. Check it out.
