First Listen: Danielia Cotton travels on a "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"

New York singer Danielia Cotton hasn't had an easy few years, but she has harnessed difficult times and turned them into something positive in music. She's recently completed her upcoming album The Real Book, which features 12 hand-picked covers that she recorded as a form of coping after going through a period of unexpected change (a difficult, albeit amicable, divorce and a diagnosis of thyroid cancer).

Perhaps the most fitting of songs is her breathtaking cover of the classic Simon and Garfunkel number, "Bridge Over Troubled Water." With its nine person choir, the song serves as the album’s emotional climax, and according to Cotton, is about “recognizing who your real friends are after going through a difficult time.”
