Farnell Newton is known as a trumpeter extraordinaire, who is currently touring with the great Jill Scott. But he's getting ready to step to the front of the stage with his upcoming release, Ready to Roll, a funky album with a positive message.
He gives us a taste of what's to come with the melodic new single, "Peace + Love" featuring SoulTracks Critics Picks winner, Jarrod Lawson, and longtime fave, Tony Ozier. Farnell tells us about the song: "Peace + Love" not only features a perfect blend of jazz and soul but also carries a message about social change. A lot of people are struggling to figure out how they can make a difference in the world, and I feel like musicians should use their voices to support and inspire positive action in our families, our local communities, and globally as well. I truly believe this is missing in so much of mainstream music. My hope is that my trumpet can be a beacon of light spreading the good word of music and inviting listeners to join together to work toward the common good.
