Multiinstrumentalists DeeGee and EnBee met backstage over a beer. It was after a combined gig of their two bands in a Berlin juke joint in the hard winter of 1994. They decided to team up and soon got engaged in various projects. They played together in bands, gigged and developed their musical vocabulary and their production skills.

They became the duo Funkatized, and we’ve been following them ever since. And as they get ready for their new album, Shades, we’re definitely not throwing any shade their way. Instead, we’re going to feature their new single, “Yesterday,” a song with an R&B groove but a 70s pop sheen. It is our newest SoulTracks First Listen.
