As we mentioned in a story we ran earlier this year, Jody Watley has formed a updated version of the classic R&B/dance group Shalamar, featuring new members Nate Allen Smith and Rosero McCoy. Jody's new version of the group will be recording together and touring, giving her longtime fans the chance to hear both her solo hits and reloads of hits from the original Shalamar days.

The new Jody-led Shalamar has issued their first single, a nice ballad that Jody wrote and produced called, appropriately, "Slow Dance." The song begins with an electronic opening before moving into a steady, slow jam groove. It's a nice tune, well performed, especially when Jody takes over the lead about halfway through.
