(July 17, 2016) For nearly 50 years, the Rance Allen Group has brought a distinctly contemporary production techniques to transmit a message that crosses millennia – that being the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The act, led by Elder Rance Allen, a minister and pastor in the Church of God in Christ, started out as a group that infused their biblically based message with the musical styles heard on the secular radio station of the day. It is a sound that can be best heard in one of their best known hits, “I Belong To You,” a 1978 gospel ballad and love song to God that made the jump from being played on Sunday morning gospel shows to the R&B and funk programmed during the rest of the week.
