Singer, songwriter, and producer Shamora has made a name for herself behind the scenes, writing or producing for artists such as J. Lo, Monica, Blu Cantrell, and Angie Stone just to name a few; and she has arranged for Elton John and Mary J. Blige. She was also nominated for a Dove Award for her work on gospel group Virtue’s album Free

Well, now it is time for Shamora to move out front, and she’s doing it with a flourish. She’s released two albums: Substance Abuse and Substance Abuse… the Altar, showing off both her songwriting skills and her gentle soprano voice, which harkens on some classic soulsters like Deniece Williams.

We’re digging her single “Do It For Me,” and are presenting it as our newest SoulTracks First Listen.  Shamora tells us: "Do It For Me" is one of my favorite songs off of my album Substance Abuse. I love that it transparently expresses how as a woman you wanna love this new guy, but you've been hurt so you need him to fix everything that was broken. You need him to make you trust again, and love again, because you really want and need to believe that's possible. And, I love that it's expressed in such a soulful way. It's one of those songs that once I put it on, I listen to it over and over again!
