Even though his album release schedule has been relatively sparse, his consistent work in productions on London’s West End has kept his chops in high demand, and the wait for new records always proves worth the while.

With the imminent US release of his fourth studio set, Evergreen, producer Nigel Lowis (Dina Carroll, Eternal) has lent his signature touch to one of the album’s key cuts, “Healing Me.” In its original form a frank yet glowing soul stepper, Lowis’s redux adds a retro-fitted, slightly jazzified stance to the track which enhances its positively affirming lyrical pathway. Escoffery commands with clear-hued phrasing that brings forth the passion of “temperatures way above 100 degrees (can’t keep up, got me down on my knees),” while the rebooted arrangement makes the tune equally suitable for both casual listening and groove time.
