Flashback Soul: Sia and Zero 7 Chart Your “Destiny”

Over a decade before she became one of the music world’s “go-to” hit songwriters and a # 1 charting artist in her own right, Sia was a blue-eyed soul vocalist for the UK’s Zero 7.  The band’s debut album, Simple Things, released in 2001, was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and sold over half a million copies.  Among its many strong tracks is the lovely “Destiny” featuring Sia on lead vocal.

The track has a swirling, trip-hoppy vibe, and Sia lays her incredibly supple and soulful voice atop it like whipped cream.  We feature here the band performing the song live in 2002.

    Enjoy.
