Official Biography (courtesy of Groove Stu)

Groove Stu is a self contained songwriting, production collective hailing from the DMV. Consisting of vocalist/keyboardist Omar Sharif, drummer and multi-instrumentalist Robert Levine, vocalist Jerrod Simpson, and saxophonist Brandon Moultrie, Groove Stu is set to release their new album “Artofficial Substance” on September 18, 2012. Artofficial Substance is an album conceived out of the need to bring back to music, essential elements lacking from today’s musical landscape. The project is an “out the box” experience that flirts with various musical genres, as well as a concentration on lyrical substance and real musicianship.

Refusing to play it safe and succumb to trends, GS instead chose to trust their instincts and follow the spirit guiding their artistry; an artistry rooted in the tradition of musical acts that strived to make timeless music that inspires and uplifts. Drawing from their diverse individual and collective influences, GS has crafted a sound that authentically combines soul, funk, rock, jazz, pop and hip hop into a colorful blend that can only be classified under Good Music.

In 2003, Groove Stureleased it's first album, Authentic 4.10 Sessions, independently to critical acclaim. GS has shared stages with such acts as Frankie Beverly and Maze, Boyz II Men, Raheem Devaughn, Jeffrey Osbourne and Kindred the Family Soul to name a few. In 2006, GS released their live concert DVD Live and Direct from Baltimore.

The first two singles off their new album, “Take A Chance” and “Thing Called Love”, are set to hit airwaves in August, showcases  the group’s penchant for lush harmonies and infectious rhythm and melody. “We wanted this album to provide a balance to sounds and messages being oversaturated on today’s radio formats,” says the group. “This is a record for those who miss the way music made you feel back in the day.”
