Lakisha Jones

Flint, Michigan native LaKisha Jones came to the world's attention as part of the talented Season Six of American Idol.   Boasting a big, Gospel-influenced voice, LaKisha wowed the judges in the first week of the finals with her performance of the Dreamgirls signature number "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," and continued to impress for the remainder of her run on the show, where she finished in fourth place. By the time of her appearance on Idol, Jones had moved to Houston and then to Maryland.

Her appearance on Idol created many opportunities, the first of which were shows in and around her Michigan and Texas hometowns.  But in 2007, Jones joined the Broadway cast of The Color Purple in the role of Sophia.  She also began working on her debut album, So Glad I'm Me, which was released in February, 2009.  Working with Grammy Award winning producer Tony Nicholas (Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle), as well as Greg Curtis (Yolanda Adams, Keyshia Cole) and others, she fashioned a solid contemporary R&B album that showed off her powerful pipes.
