Lisa Lisa

Lisa Lisa

Lisa Lisa emerged from the New York music scene to become one of the biggest stars of the 80s and early 90s. She was born on January 15, 1967.

Raised in the Hell's Kitchen are of New York City as the youngest of ten in a Puerto Rican family, Lisa began singing as a child. As a teen, she was discovered by drummer Mike Hughes at a club, and together with Alex Moseley, they auditioned for the hot production group Full Force as the trio that would become Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam.

The act debuted auspiciously in 1985 with "I Wonder If I Take You Home," which became an across-the-board smash, and it began a monster string of hits over the remainder of the decade, including “All Cried Out,” “Head to Toe,” and “Lost In Emotion.”

The group split up in 1991, and Lisa began a solo career in 1994, which yielded a couple moderate hits (“Skip To My Lu” and “When I Fell In Love”). She has continued to perform and most recently signed with Snoop Dogg’s record label.
