    9. Smokey Robinson

The Motown legend has been hard at work on his upcoming album, Smokey and Friends. Luckily, he is making some time to hit the road this summer.

    8. John Legend

Though he has mastered the art of the modern ballad, John Legend’s live shows are funkier than you might expect. Luckily, you will have plenty of chances to see for yourself this summer.

    7. Mavis Staples

There are not many artists from her generation that have had the kind of late-career success that Mavis Staples has recently. Her work with Jeff Tweedy has propelled her back into the limelight and back on the road.

    6. Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires

It seems strange to refer to a 65-year-old man as a newcomer, but Charles Bradley’s late-in-life success has shook up the soul scene. This Daptone artist is one of the hottest tickets around this summer.

    5. Temptations

Is there any band that epitomizes Motown more than the Temptations? We know you “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” for tickets; but don’t worry, Rukkus has you covered.

    4. Lauryn Hill

This former Fugee has had some ups and downs over the years, but if her recent run of shows is any indication, Ms. Lauryn Hill is back.

    3. Diana Ross

The leader of the Supremes has been rocking venues on her current tour. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch this legend live.

    2. Bruno Mars

As we all learned during halftime of Super Bowl XLVIII, Bruno Mars is one of the most electrifying entertainers of his generation. His pop-tinged soul vibe is perfect for a summer concert setting.

    1. Aretha Franklin

The undisputed Queen Of Soul is on tour, and that should be all the reason you need to get out and see her.
