In another sad death to start 2014, we're sorry to report the passing of Bernard "Beloyd" Taylor. Best known as a songwriter, Taylor wrote the Earth, Wind & Fire smash, "Getaway," among other R&B hits.

Taylor began his career as a member of the Cleveland-based group S.O.U.L. before going solo with the moderate hit "Get Into Your Life."

But Taylor had his greatest fame as a songwriter, writing album cuts for EWF such as "Lady Sun," "You Are a Winner," "Spread Your Love" and "Heart to Heart," as well as songs for artists ranging from jazz band Hiroshima to Donald Byrd. He was a talent and he will be missed.
