    What's going on here?

I'm Jesse... you might know me as a jazz pianist/composer in Brooklyn, electro-house producer and remixer, recording engineer, graphic designer, video editor, or half a dozen other things... basically I'm just a guy who loves making music!

Right now I'm recording my seventh album as a bandleader, Day Dreamer, featuring Takuya KurodaSomiGodwin LouisSarah Elizabeth CharlesJean CazeLeon Foster ThomasZach Brock, and many more of my awesomely talented friends! It's going to be a mish-mash of haunting melodies, head-nodding grooves, and heartfelt songwriting.

    Another Jesse Fischer album?

I've been going through some life changes lately and the music I've been writing is a lot more personal and intimate. This vulnerability will be reflected in Day Dreamer's acoustic instrumentation (as opposed to the electronic and synth-heavy sounds in my previous few records) -- as well as a large part of the album featuring the  smaller trio or quartet format. In addition, for the first time I'll be including songs with lyrics penned by yours truly!

    What's with the fundraising?

It's a brave new music world... record labels don't fund albums any more, and music fans don't buy them either! Sooo... where does the money come from to create a record in the first place? Awesome super-fans like yourself who want to pitch in ahead of time in exchange for a piece of the action, of course.

We're raising $6,000 for the first leg of creating this Day Dreamer album. That will cover:

    • Musician fees
    • Studio time for one loong marathon recording session
    • Video production for the entire session so you can see what we look like!

Once we have the basic tracks recorded, I'll be doing edits, overdubs, and mixing at my own studio in Brooklyn. If we exceed our goal, then we can pay for things like music videos, graphic design, manufacturing, PR, radio promo, and even (gasp!)tour support!

    What's in it for me?

Advance copies of the album, autographed sheet music, piano/production/engineering lessons, remix of your song, VIP tickets to release show, exclusive invite to private party/meet & greet, a private house concert, aannd the satisfaction of adding some beauty to the world!

Why make a record... now of all times?

The world has definitely changed and music doesn't seem to have the same (cash) value it once did... so why make a record now at all?

For a while, I really wasn't going to make any more records... I figured my last one was the last one and I would go about my business... but reading so many emails, tweets, and instagrams from people who were inspired by my songs, who used them to get through painful times, who sampled them, created their own versions, or covered them at their shows, who taught them to their 3-year-old nieces and nephews, led me to believe that maybe there is something to this music thing after all.

Music's most amazing ability is to allow emotions, stories, and dreams to propagate and communicate universally, and I feel like I have the duty to pass it on!

I don't have any cash on me......

It's okay... you know what?? Just send out a bunch of tweets and Facebooks and tell all your friends with real jobs to pitch in and help make this record!! Fund once, listen for all time.
