Oakland, CA - Come celebrate Culture & Community at the Laurel World Music Festival on August 11th 2007 from Noon to 6:00pm! Attractions include live musical performances on the World Music Stage, a Community Stage with a line up of talented local musicians and performers, a street festival with over 100 booths along MacArthur showcasing a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, toys, books, and tapestries all available for sale, gourmet food vendors featuring ethnic cuisines that you can find in the Laurel community, and Kid's World, a separate area packed full of fun for children of all ages.

The festivities will take place in the Laurel business district located along MacArthur Blvd. between 35th Avenue and High Street in Oakland. The line up for the Laurel World Music Stage will be announced on July 1st. Local musicians are invited to submit a press kit by email to: kurioussound@yahoo.com or by mail to Helen Wyman at 3834B Wisconsin Street Oakland, CA 94619. The deadline is June 15th.
Kid's World sponsored by Oakland Veterinary Hospital, will feature carnival games, rock climbing, petting zoo, pony rides, an exhibit from Chabot Space & Science Center, special appearances by the Raiderette's, face painting, arts & crafts and MORE. Kid's World tickets are available at the ticket booth on the day of the event.
The Laurel World Music Festival is hosted by the Laurel District Association (LDA), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit made up of merchants and property owners along the MacArthur corridor. Proceeds from beer and wine sales will go towards revitalization efforts in the Laurel business district.
