Reigning SoulTracks Female Vocalist of the Year Maysa is readying the release of her newest album, Metamorphosis.  One of the cuts, "I Need A Man," was written with Barack Obama in mind.  So Shanachie Records VP of Media and Artist Development Bill Cason decided to do his own "mash-up" of the song with an Obama speech. The result is kind of nice, and we thought you might like to hear it.

Here's how Bill describes it: 

I know Maysa wrote that song with Obama in mind, so knowing this when listening to the lyrics, it made me remember his father's day speech which I thought was so powerful.  They were saying the same thing really...and so I thought I would play around with the speech and the song to see if I could coax a bit of magic marrying the two together.

She knows the message behind this song is the struggle women have in this country and she hopes it resonates with the women voters particularly because it's the message he's bringing to the women in this country she feels.

Anyway we decided to make the song a free download on her myspace page etc, and we hope this song and message floats around the internet like so many positive messages do.  I did manage to get it to the National Black Caucus musical director, not that I've got a read on what that person thinks, but someone was kind enough to send it there, after getting it from me, so the more people hear it and pass it around the more good it might do...
