Lost Gem: Marcus Miller & Corinne Bailey Rae Are “Free”

Some musicians simply make magic together. Marcus Miller and the U.K. chanteuse Corinne Bailey Rae clearly have that special chemistry.

Guesting on Miller’s 2008 album Marcus, Rae delivers perhaps the most effortless, buttery smooth vocal of her career on “Free,” a spirited and funky cover of the original Deniece Williams hit featuring Miller’s muscular and melodic bass runs and a delightful sax solo by David Sanborn.  A lost gem indeed. Enjoy.
