Album of the Month: Jarrod Lawson delivers a masterpiece

A half dozen years ago, we began to stand up and take notice of all of the impressive music coming out of the seemingly unlikely soul music town of Portland, Oregon. But Rip City clearly has something going on, and singer, songwriter and keyboardist Jarrod Lawson is right in the middle of all that West Coast goodness. His musicianship and attention to melody -- along with his killer vocals -- recall many of the all-time soul music greats and have attracted a growing audience around the world.

It's been a few years since Jarrod's highly touted self-titled album, and his fans have been anxiously waiting for more. That wait finally ends now with another triumph in the form of his incredible new album, Be The Change. The Dome Records release promises to make his existing supporters ecstatic, and to gather for him many new ones. Its sophisticated blend of soul and jazz displays again an artist who is the real deal.
