If you are looking for some good music to add to your collection, take this opportunity to pick up a copy of indie artist Amber Ojeda's self-titled project. Combining soul, jazz and R&B, this seven-track EP has plenty of flair. If Amber's MySpace hits is any indication, her talent is drawing much attention. The obvious fan excitement over Amber's debut speaks for itself. This beauty from Southern California has an awesome voice that lends itself to the likes of Jill Scott with the poetic flow of an Erykah Badu. With fans, looks and a distinctive voice, Amber has what it takes to make this project a success. Yet, the self-titled debut doesn't always live up to Amber's obvious potential.

Amber vocally meets her potential and our expectations on several songs. Success rings on Amber Ojeda in songs like "So Lovely," "Love For The Band,"" Here I Am" and "Don't Rush," largely because of Amber's winning style and vocal arrangements.

However, other songs don't fare quite as well on this project, with several still needing a little more fine-tuning in their lyricism and composition. In its production approach, all of the songs could have sonically been a little stronger and fuller without drowning out Amber's voice. Given what's already present on these tracks, a richer sound would have only delivered a more explosive project for this artist. With her unique styling, I couldn't help but feel that Amber's voice is better suited for the producing style of a Wyclef Jean or R. Kelly, producers with the skill to transform Amber's beautiful concept into a masterpiece. Still, the project should overall meet with your approval and not leave you disappointed.

    Mildly Recommended.
