May 2, 2023 – Welcome back to Another Groove, our series dedicated to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but which includes elements of those genres and may please your ears.  This week we feature Catherine Russell’s cover of “I Want To Talk About You” by Billy Eckstine.

Russell is a versatile and graceful vocalist who got her start as a back-up singer for Steely Dan and David Bowie. In 2006, she stepped forward and released her debut album, Cat, and since then has been twice Grammy-nominated for “Best Jazz Vocal Album.” Russell’s gifts as a singer are many, but she is especially skilled at delivering jazz standards with an urbane, bluesy elegance. Our featured track is a textbook of taste and class; give way to Catherine’s delicate swing and sway!
