Happy Birthday to legendary singer William Bell, born on July 16, 1939.

There aren’t many singers who have had as long and successful career as William Bell. The singer-songwriter rose to prominence during the Golden Age of Soul Music as part of the Stax Records family with such smash hits as "You Don't Miss Your Water," "Private Number" (a duet with Judy Clay), and "I Forgot to Be Your Lover."

Bell has continued to perform, decade after decade, right into the 2020s, and even found his way back into the studio. His 2016 album, This Is Where I Live, marked an auspicious return after a long hiatus, winning the Grammy Award for Best Americana Album and boasting one of the year’s best songs with the ballad "The Three of Me."

Bell most recently issued One Day Closer To Home on his Wilbe Records in 2023, another triumph for an artist who is incredibly still hitting his stride well into his 80s.

    Happy birthday, William Bell!
