He’s called “The Godfather of Scandinavian Soul” for a reason, and singer, songwriter and musician Jonas Rendbo, aka Jonas, has been on our “A-List” since the early days of SoulTracks. With a style that blends R&B, pop and even a bit of electronic, but always with a keen sense of melody, Jonas has made it an event for us whenever he releases new music.

After a decade away, earlier this year Jonas issued the much anticipated EP 4ward to the Future, his collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and producer The Scratch Professer (who also happens to the brother of soul music legend Omar), and it immediately became a SoulTracks favorite. Now Jonas is returning with 4ward Fast to Future (the remixes), seven incredible reworkings of the songs from the original EP, created with his musical friends.

Longtime ST fave Tony Ozier has created a groovealicious new take on one of the EP highlights, “Pick Me Up.” Ozier, with help from SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award Winner Tyrone Hendrix on drums, gives the song the kind of cool early 90s soulful jazz vibe that would stand toe to toe with classic Incognito. With Jonas’s smooth vocals up front, it simply sounds fantastic.

We’re proud to present “Pick Me Up (Tony Ozier Remix)” as our November Choice Cut. Check it out below. We know you’re going to love this one.
