It has been a few years since we introduced SoulTrackers to the incredible Dr. E. Possessing a powerful voice and an even more powerful message, Dr. Elaine Richardson delivers a groove that gives you something to think about.

In 2010, Dr. E released Dr. E Elevated, which was produced by Larry Marcus of the Rude Boys ("Written All Over Your Face," Billboard Award Winner). It also earned Dr. E a Best New Artist nomination from SoulTracks.  The new project Songs for the Struggle will be released May 5th, 2017. And so many things have happened since 2010. Larry Marcus (Dr. E's mentor) and her blood brother, Chris Richardson, both passed away. Larry didn't get to finish the album. Nor did he get to celebrate the placement of one of their co-written tunes ("Boy I'm Feeling You") on Fox's new series "Star," this past January.

Christopher Brown produced the lion's share of Struggle. The Funk, Soul, Blues-Rock, and R&B on this project express more of who Dr. E is at this time in her life--the artist, advocate, educator (Ohio State University professor). Dr. E is happy using her music and her life to support her work with women and girls through her non-profit Education Foundation for Freedom. This new project has been a long time coming and seeing it finished and out into the world feels like a huge accomplishment. Additional tour dates will be announced and stay tuned for new videos and more. Visit her website www.giveusfreerecords.com to learn more about Dr. E and purchase her music.

This month, we're featuring one of the cuts from this powerful album. As Dr. E tells us about the song: "Mutha Werk" celebrates womanhood, No matter what kind of woman. I can never write enough songs promoting womanhood and sisterhood. I think all people can get behind a tune celebrating women, especially a funky song that you can groove to."
