Deonis

    Official Biography (courtesy of Deonis)

Having pursued his true passion for some time, producer, arranger, vocalist and songwriter Deonis "Pumah" Cook first began singing at the tender age of four. He developed his musical techniques by listening and emulating certain songs he heard and would then play them back on a Casio keyboard owned by his mother. Though, it wasn't until he joined the Grammy® Award-winning collective, God's Property, that he truly began to realize his musical potential. As part of GP, Deonis was mentored by a multitude of talented artists and individuals.

With such an enormous and overwhelming amount of gifted people surrounding him, he quickly learned to act as a sponge, soaking up every bit of information he could and taking advantage of the opportunity placed before him. Deonis has had the privilege of working with many artists such as Kirk Franklin, Musiq Soulchild, Kiera "Kiki" Sheard, Myron Butler, Fred Hammond, Jontez, Darwin Hobbs, Erykah Badu, Kim Burrell, Geno Young, Eric Roberson, Uncle Sam and emcee Brownlion.

Now in the works is his self-titled sophomore release, The Breaking Point (due March 15, 2011 via PadKat Music), promises to be a dynamic, mature follow-up to his previous work on the highly acclaimed debut, Kat Phood, behind heavy momentum from the slinky lead single "Right" featuring Houston emcee Preemo and the soulful, rock-infused ode "Woman", as well as the mid-tempo love theme "I See Me In Your Eyes". Moving away from the instrumental format of its predecessor, Deonis presents his incomparable vocal ability on the new album, as well as musical arrangements to create an experience worth waiting for.
