Featured Album: Raul Midón wins us over completely with "If You Really Want"

We've been raving for more than a decade about singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Raul Midón.  And if you've ever seen him perform, you know why. He is revered around the world for his unique blend of styles, ranging from R&B to Jazz to Pop and so much more. And each album he releases is an event, as he delves further into his deep artistry.

So, we were excited from the get go when we heard advances from his tenth album, If You Really Want (see our review). The album features the talents of GRAMMY® Award-winning Dutch ensemble, Metropole Orkest, under the direction of Vince Mendoza, a multiple Grammy® Winner, which has collaborated with artists from Al Jarreau and Elvis Costello to Laura Mvula and Snarky Puppy. The orchestra compliments Midón’s soulful vocals, presenting a collaborative arrangement that transcends many genres.

For those who know Raul's work, the new album is an affirmation, with jaw-dropping twists on some familiar songs. For those who don't know his work, it is a revelation. You may just discover a new favorite artist. Raul received a GRAMMY nomination for his last album, Bad Ass And Blind, and we'd be shocked if this one doesn't follow.

We're proud to present If You Really Want as our newest SoulTracks Featured Album. This is an album that deserves to be heard.
