Her 2019 collaboration with Japan’s T-Groove, “Let’s Feel Good,” as well as that year’s “He Asked Me,” both featured her sophisticated stylings over nu-disco grooves with memorable hooks.
Now, the former track and field competitor and bank manager by day is realizing her musical dreams with her soon-to-be-released debut album, White Fire. Dipping into classic disco territory, Garvey says her decision to pursue singing after concentrating for many years on motherhood was inspired by a chance meeting with the late Donna Summer. While a cover of the Queen of Disco’s “Last Dance” is expected shortly, Garvey is giving SoulTracks readers an exclusive first taste of White Fire with the buoyant “Take Your Time.”
