(June 25, 2019) Until recently we hadn’t heard of London-based multi-instrumentalist Ash Walker, but he’s thrust himself into our consciousness with his new collabo with London-based singer, Laville, “Under the Sun.”

An avid collector of jazz, blues, soul, funk, reggae, and all things in-between, Walker has DJed far and wide, spinning vinyl in the UK with The Specials to scattering dub across San Francisco and LA. Walker’s production output is similarly exploratory: his journeys have taken him far and wide, from tunnels under the river Thames to recording local percussionists in the Atlas mountains of Morocco.

With “Under the Sun,” he has created a spacey, groove-filled number that is tough to put down. And Laville gives the song his Barry-meets-Luther baritone, making it all work all the better. Check out “Under the Sun” below, and welcome Ash Walker and Laville to SoulTracks.
