SoulTrackers are collectively in love with Avery Sunshine. The singer and songwriter won us over a few years ago as she began releasing singles, but it was her album The Sun Room that took everything to another level, earning her her first #1 song as well as an amazing three awards at last year's SoulTracks Readers' Choice Awards.

So when in 2015, Avery released a new Christmas song coming, we were all in! Her voice glides over the adult soul arrangement, telling a story about how love changed her view of Christmas. She told us about "Never Knew Christmas": "A few weeks ago I was asked to perform some Christmas songs for a national radio show. While I certainly appreciate and have an undying love for the classics, I have always wanted to create a song that reflected my personal Christmas experience. The chord changes were completed about 2 years ago but Dana and I wrote the lyrics  for 'Never Knew Christmas' during breakfast at IHOP just two weeks ago! By the same evening we were onstage performing it for a sold out crowd at the Birchmere in DC! The response was so great that we decided to record the song as soon as we got back to our studio. 'Never Knew Christmas' is a love song that reminds us that the holiday is made so much greater when we're with the one(s) we love.  My prayer  is that this holiday season brings healing, peace, renewal and love to us all and that we will know this Christmas as we have never know it before."

This song has always put us in exactly the right mood. Check out "Never Knew Christmas" below and give a hug to someone you love.
