First Listen: Badge and Talkalot explain "The Situation"

(April 8, 2020) There’s a lot going on on Fragments of the Soul, the new, socially conscious album by Badge and Talkalot.  The disc, which is the brainchild of Gilberto Caleffi, combines funky R&B with a view of real life situations going on in the world – much like what we would have heard in the early 1970s from the likes of Sly and the Family Stone or even Marvin Gaye.

On the first single from the project, noted vocalist Georgia Anne Muldrow takes the lead, singing over a plunking electric guitar on a song that bridges funk and rock. “The Situation” is a song that takes a grim survey of some of the things going on in society that we often gloss over. “You wouldn’t even understand if somebody had told you / You couldn’t even comprehend the kind of things been happening.”

The song has a throwback feel, and the performers deliver it authentically. Check out “The Situation” below, and tell us what you think.
