“Beautiful Thing,” Bright’s latest single, casts a musical net that encompasses the musical arrangements and production techniques of the mid and late 1980s, as well as some contemporary elements. “Beautiful Thing” is the kind of danceable synthesized funk that used the foundation of a bouncy bass line, keyboards and drum machines to create sound that kept dance floors filled in the 1980s. The change-up comes with a vocal that pairs Bright’s baritone (that includes touches of autotune) with the sweet voice of D.C. based singer Donae.
