(November 18, 2018) We introduced SoulTrackers to singer Candace Bellamy a few years ago with her wonderful album A Thousand Shades of Blue. And we’ve been following this expressive singer – who is also a physician! – ever since. She’s an amazing vocalist who regular graces fans in Austin, Texas with her unique ability to seamlessly move between genres – from soul to jazz to rock to blues – and shine in each.
For the holidays this year, Candace is releasing her first full Christmas album, and it is everything we expected from Candace. The song that hit us from the jump is her wonderful take on the classic “What Child Is This?” Beginning with a bluesy electric guitar, the song moves into Candace’s terrific vocal lead, before expanding into a full band jam that gives the song a very live feel.

Candace tells us, "For me, it is always about singing songs I love and trying to bring a soulful interpretation to them. 'What Child is This' is one of my favorite Christmas songs and when I took the song to my band, they said 'yes' immediately. We had a great time recording the song in the studio and making it our own."
It’s not like any version of this chestnut that we’ve heard, and Candace absolutely makes it her own. Check out “What Child is This?” below and then go for Soul for the Season!
