Somehow in the flood of music that has been 2013, we missed reviewing the genius that is Washington, DC’s Grammy-nominated ingénue, Carolyn Malachi. With pristine clear and sultry vocals on such cuts as “Gold” and “Fall Winter Spring Summer,” Malachi is that silky soul singer with an undeniably avant garde bent throughout her flawless 2013 release, Gold.  She’s been prepping fans for her third full-length project since 2011, when she dropped the single and video for “Beautiful Dreamer.” She followed it up with the radio-ready jazzy soul of “All Right” that earned spins on DC’s WHUR.

Just as summer ended, Malachi revealed her playful side on the soul pop jam, “Finally.” We happened upon an unvarnished performance of the album’s title track that was performed at Grammys.com and decided to share it as an example of Malachi at her purest. You can’t get much better than this. Enjoy Malachi live, at her solid “Gold” best.
