Both as the lead singer of The Gap Band and in a second act as a solo artist, Charlie Wilson has defied time, changing musical tastes and his own personal demons to become an all-timer. And he is in the rarified air of a mature soul artist for whom every release is a major event. That's certainly the case with his newest single, "One I Got," the follow up to his #1 smash collaboration with Bruno Mars, "Forever Valentine."
Wilson's newest single, “One I Got,” gives a nod to the Four Tops classic ballad “Ain’t No Woman (Like The One I Got),” recalling refrain in a song that is otherwise completely different melodically. “One I Got” follows the theme of many of Wilson’s recent hits, celebrating a good love in cheery fashion: “Ohhh, after all this time/ It just gets better / Just gets better / Believe when I say that.”
