First Listen: Chic Gamine says to "Shake off Your Worries"

    You know you’re doing something right when no less than Mavis Staples tells you that you remind her of the iconic Staple Singers. Playing the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, opening for the likes of Smokie Robinson and the Nawlin’s wunderkind Marc Broussard, not to mention winning a Juno Award (think Grammys for Canadians) for Best Roots Album of 2009 (they were again nominated in 2010 for the same category) all certainly helps too get an international buzz started too.

    This amalgamation of roots music, ‘60s R&B, and nouveau pop from these Canadian singers is right on time for their official U.S. debut, Closer, following a two album run since 2007. As seen by this clip below of “Shake Off Your Worries” from Closer, singers Ariane Jean, Andrina Turenne, Annick Bremault, and Alexa Dirks, supported by percussionist Sacha Daoud bring their agame as Chic Gamine (which roughly means stylish mischievous young thing in French).
