First Listen: Christopher Holland and Katy Shotter create something "Fantastic"

    (September 20, 2019) Fans of the rock group Squeeze or of British TV certainly know the name Jools Holland. Fewer, particularly here in the US, know his talented brother, English keyboard player, singer and songwriter Christopher Holland. As part of the Jools Holland, Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Chris has played with such soul legends as Al Green, Solomon Burke and Mavis Staples.

    And Chris uses those classic influences – and maybe a bit of Michael Masser/Whitney Houston, on his newest song, “Beautiful Fantastic Planet.” The first single from Chris’s upcoming album Golden Hour, the song features the attractive vocals of Katy Shotter, who made quite a splash as the opener on a tour with Beyoncé.

    “Beautiful Fantastic Planet” has the vibe of “The Greatest Love of All,” but with a lighter, airier arrangement. It should find a home with lovers of the melodic pop/soul of the 80s, and is a nice intro to Christopher Holland’s upcoming disc.
