Every SoulTracker knows and loves the band Incognito and its founder, Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick. Well Bluey has a lot of things going, and one is a new band called Citrus Sun! Well, not totally new.  He did release an album under that name back in 2001, but he'll be back in March with a new line up and a new Citrus Sun album, People of Tomorrow.

As with the earlier album, the band revolves around the stunning guitar of Jim Mullen (Brian Auger, Average White Band, Morrissey-Mullen, among others). And there are vocals from Valerie Etienne (Galliano, Jamiroquai).  But the remaining six members of the band are regular members of the Incognito line-up, including keyboard player Matt Cooper and bassist Francis Hylton.

Says Bluey: “Citrus Sun is a project born of my love for Jim’s playing and the desire to be part of a band with him.  We are now good friends and I have collaborated with him on several projects including Terry Callier and Mario Biondi. but as a teenager in the Seventies I was just a fan.  He’s an amazing musician.”

Bluey worked as a producer on several tracks with the late Terry Callier and he regards “What Color Is Love” as an obvious choice for the band to cover. We think it is great, is our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
