(June 27, 2022) The music of Frank Ryle and Rob Hardt, the European production duo better known as Cool Million, is greatly influenced by the feel good, synthesized and highly danceable funk and R&B music made by 1980s groups, such as the SOS Band, Midnight Star, and superstar producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

Since coming on the scene in 2008 with “Going Out Tonight,” Cool Million has collaborated artists familiar to American R&B fans from that era such as Meli’sa Morgan, Eugene Wilde and Glenn Jones and Keni Burke. Their new tune, “Moonlit Rendezvous,” finds Cool Million teaming up with Heather Haywood, a singer who was doing big things in the UK as a part of the The Cool Notes. Haywood and Lauraine Smart fronted The Cool Notes as the group charted several times between 1984 and 1991. Their two Top 20 hits, “Spend the Night” and “In Your Car,” came in 1985, the same year that the Mary Jane Girls scored big hits on this side of the pond with the same kind of sensual funk.

That history makes Haywood a logical and inspired choice to front “Moonlit Rendezvous,” a sleek, bass, synth and drum driven jam. The tune finds Haywood using her rangy vocals to a track that tells the story of two people coming together for a night of passion under a full moon. Check it out here.
