(September 6, 2018) One thing we can usually count on is that any new music from SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award winner Darien Dean is going to be fresh.

Darien made a splash a few years ago with the duet “All In Me” with Angela Johnson, and won our prestigious Song of the Year award in the process. Since then, he received critical acclaim for his album If These Walls Could Talk and last year’s EP Departures. Then earlier this year he completely won over SoulTrackers with the stepper’s gem, “Last Song.”

Now Darien returns with an entirely different sound. Teaming with legendary UK soul man Omar Lye Fook (known to many simply as Omar) and Saycon Sengbloh, Darien channels his Jamaican roots to create a dance jam that is getting us moving, all helped by West African drummer Junior Toffi.

We think SoulTrackers are going to dig “Straight Up,” and will be looking forward – as we are – to more music from the always on point Darien Dean. Check it out below.
