(April 12, 2018) D’laurent Smith is a man in demand. Having worked with a list of artists as long as your arm, from Elton John to Anita Baker, Smith has been one of the top keyboardists on the touring and recording circuit.
After all these years helping other artists, D’laurent is now moving to the front of the stage, and is releasing his debut album TIME + SPACE on April 15, an attractive blend of R&B, jazz and more, featuring performances from such longtime SoulTracks faves as saxman Boney James and singer Ola Onabule.
One of the songs that hit us was the collaboration with the talented Mr. James on “Hand In Hand.” D’laurent tells us about the song, “Boney supplied me with the most rewarding and fulfilling creative experiences ever, yes ever. We click when it comes to writing and hashing out musical ideas…we trust each other’s music aptitude and relish the mystery of creating music. He is truly my creative brotha from anotha motha.
