First Listen: Donnell Hendrix makes it real on "Ferguson"

(July 10, 2018) A native of Charlotte, NC, singer/songwriter Donnell Hendrix began his journey with music while in high school and the family church.  Inspired by artists from Stevie Wonder to Jimi Hendrix (no relation!), Donnell (D’Nell to friends and family) performed through the Southeast, opening for legends such as the Whispers and the late Bobby Womack. He’s working on a new album with Motown producer/songwriter Jimmy Roach (who co-authored the classic, “My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me)” for David Ruffin) and is signed with Jimmy’s Jibaro Music label.

Written, arranged and produced by Mr. Roach, Donnell's new single from Donnell, “Ferguson (Too Many)” (available for release on July 6th), expresses the need to curb gun violence and police brutality towards communities of color.  Check it out here on SoulTracks’ First Listen.
