Fans have loved them each separately, and now, through the miracles of technology, they are together in a new duet version of the father’s most famous song.
Donny Hathaway released “This Christmas” in 1970, and the song has taken on a life of its own over the past half-century, becoming perhaps the most beloved (and covered) R&B Holiday song of that period. Now, an unreleased demo of the original song has become the basis for a duet between father and daughter, with recently recorded vocals by Lalah being weaved into the demo to create a beautiful “new” family recording of a classic.
