(September 2, 2016) Los Angeles-based indie artist Elayna was first heard by many SoulTrackers when her duet with Anthony Hamilton, “Freedom,” was heard as part of the 2012 movie Django Unchained, or on her popular rendition of the Aretha Franklin classic, “One Room Paradise.”

Elayna is now back with a self-title EP that gives listeners a much broader view of her talent. And  we think SoulTrackers are going to like what they hears. So we’re particularly proud to be presenting the World Premiere of the bluesy ballad, “You Were No Good.”

Elayna is now back with a self-title EP that gives listeners a much broader view of her talent. And  we think SoulTrackers are going to like what they hears. So we’re particularly proud to be presenting the World Premiere of the bluesy ballad, “You Were No Good.”

Elayna tells us about the song, “’You Were No Good’ was one of those songs that was built around a chorus I came up with when thinking about those frustrating back-and-forth-this-is-supposed-to-be-over-what-the-heck-am-I-doing? kind of relationships.  The kind that make you go crazy when you've run out of reasons to justify not totally walking away.  And essentially how it's so normal to struggle to quit something when its become a habit. We've all been there, or have had a friend who has.  Because we're all human and when we decide someone or something isn't good for us anymore, that doesn't mean what we crave walks out the door too.  So this song is acknowledging that desire--but not (once again) completely falling back into it.”

The song picks up all the conflict of a complicated relationship. And between the bass guitar opening and Elayna’s expressive vocals, it’s a winner.
