December 29, 2021 — Notable new music has been released in such abundance this year that, even after circulating my “Best of 2021” playlist, I’m still discovering new tracks to add!
This tune, by singer/songwriter Fana Hues, was released late last year on her debut album, Hues, and rose swiftly to attention after its inclusion on the soundtrack of Issa Rae’s hit TV show, Insecure. It’s a soulful and swirling slice of alt-R&B in ¾ time, topped by Fana’s sweet vocals and accompanied by flower-power visuals that are equally pleasing. Enjoy, and Happy Holidays!
