Thirty two years ago this month, the pioneering female funk and soul group, Klymaxx, fresh off their hit ballad “I Miss You,” returned with another sweet love song. Group member Joyce "Fenderella" Irby gently opened “I’d Still Say Yes,” before a very familiar voice joined her to create a beautiful duet. Howard Hewett was a major star, first as the lead singer for Shalamar, then as a solo artist, and he helped give “I’d Still Say Yes” a new dimension. The combination of Joyce and Howard was magic, and Klymaxx had another smash hit.

Now, in February 2019, we have a much welcome reunion, as Joyce Irby and Howard Hewett are back together delivering the new independently released single, “Because You.” Pacing itself slightly more midtempo than its 80s predecessor, “Because You” combines the two familiar voices in another tasty environment.

They song may be a new fave for weddings this Spring, as both the message and the sound hit the right note.

Check out “Because You,” below. We give a thumbs up to this unexpected reunion.
