In the process, he’s released a trio of independent albums stateside and two overseas with established soul imprints.

Day, through his act JD's Time Machine, is now revisiting several of his past gems for limited vinyl single release on UK boutique label Izipho Soul, starting with a recrafting of the romantic midtempo number, “Young Hearts” (b/w "Speak Love"). Originally released in 2009 with a lead vocal by Chauncey Matthews, the song later gained popularity via an interpretation by Kevin Flint Jackson. The latter version now boasts additional vocals by frequent Day collaborator Tim Owens. The respective dynamic qualities of Jackson and Owens make for a passionately engaging soundscape that pairs enticingly with the lively, Earth, Wind & Fire-inspired instrumental arrangement.

“Young Hearts” speaks to keeping the flame of a long-term relationship alive by appreciating its foundation and not letting worldly distractions get in the way of that purity. Take a First Listen to James Day’s reworking of the tune featuring Kevin Flint Jackson and Tim Owens, and let us know how your heart responds!
