(April 29, 2022) She burst like a comet onto the scene in the early 1980s with her drop-the-mic performance as Effie in the stageplay Dreamgirls, and that was the beginning of the world's fascination with singer supreme, Jennifer Holliday.

In the following years, Ms. Holliday released several albums, always sounding singular as a singer, even with uneven material. And she largely kept her fans satisfied with periodic records in the soul, jazz, gospel and dance genres.

We hadn’t heard from Ms. Holliday in a few years, and so it was a special treat earlier this year to have her back, especially showing off her legendary vocal prowess on a romantic ballad like “So In Love,” which appropriately hit all platforms on Valentine's Day. Produced by Terrell Sass and David Farmer, the song is understated in its hook and its arrangement, simply letting the powerful voice of Jennifer Holliday bring it home. And bring it home she does.

Now Ms. Holliday has issued a classy video to go with the song. We think SoulTrackers will love it. Check out the “So In Love” video below, and welcome back Jennifer Holliday to SoulTracks!
