(May 26, 2018) As one of the most in-demand musicians in the years since she was first noticed by record producer Paul Brown, Jessy J celebrates a decade-long accomplished career with a stunning performance captured at one of jazz music’s top-notch clubs.  Live at Yoshi’s 10 Year Anniversary Special is the latest release from Jessy’s Changi Records moniker, where the saxophonist/vocalist delivered plenty of her trademark Latin-spiced contemporary jazz flavors to the party, including the 2008 Billboard hit that started it all, “Tequila Moon.”  But our First Listen focuses on Jessy’s Latin smooth, soul grooving rendition of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Agua de Beber,” sprinkled with subtle percussion.

Besides her steady saxophone work, Jessy demonstrates her sensual vocal skills that honor the Brazilian classic, yet accentuate a fresh take.  Long time bandmates, keyboardist Jay Rowe and drummer Iajhi Hamilton, provide likeable solos blending the Latin mood with jazz sensibility.  It is only appropriate that Jessy J, who embraces part of her family heritage within her musical personality, could effortlessly resurrect a Jobim work of art like “Agua de Beber” into a heartwarming, live experience.
