First Listen: Joe Leavy has instant classic with "Inside You"

(July 19, 2020) It was seven years ago that we first introduced singer and songwriter Joe Leavy to SoulTrackers via his hit single, “I Heart You.” He was an anomaly even then: an immensely talented vocalist who has certainly paid his dues around the world, but who was virtually unknown to soul music audiences here in the U.S.

Well, that has certainly changed. Since then we’ve followed Mr. Leavy much more closely, and he has never failed to impress, whether on soulful ballads such as “Skin In The Game” or in hot club numbers like “Party People” (with Tom Glide).

Three years ago, Joe landed a song on the Karyn White movie soundtrack, Gale and the Storm. As we get ready for the much awaited Joe Leavy sophomore album, he has reworked that song into something special. “Inside You” is a midtempo number that bears more than a touch of Marvin Gaye influence, with a vibe similar to Gaye’s classic 70s work. And Leavy is in fantastic voice, with his smooth tenor flowing effortlessly into falsetto in this sexy track. It feels like an instant classic.

We think SoulTrackers are going to absolutely adore this song. Check it out below and tell us what you think.
